Re: “Do utility 'connect fees' unfairly punish smaller users?

New to the area and APPALLED at this charge....the larger metropolitan companies have an incremental fee component where after a certain amount of KWH the cost per KWH goes up - thereby giving us retired/disabled an ability to "take charge of our own destiny" by reducing our useage. This fee eliminates our ability to do this and unfairly burdens us. $30 a month on an income of $1000 is a huge unfair burden, while on an income of $4000 per month is a mere inconvenience....we need to stop this or our communities will die off even faster. Why should I pay an extra $30 per month and continue to put $$ into the community (Calhan) when I can pay the same rent being charged here and have the convenience of living in the Springs for less money? I retired to a rural community because I grew up rural, and like so many of our youth had to leave to live. I came back to try and support the community lifestyle that I loved-why should we be penalized?
