Re: “Weinstein: 'A state of war' with AFA

I am an agnostic and I work at USAFA.

@ SimonUK – what evidence do you have that religious fundamentalists have taken control of the Academy “then practicing prejudice and bigotry (and even in some cases hatred)”? I can’t imagine you could make a valid assertion unless you were in the environment.

@ Les – The Air Force’s senior officer (Schwartz) is Jewish. Enough said?

@ Awareness (and others) – your comments like “brainwashed”, “cult”, “radical”, and “destroyed lives” are full of emotion, but lean on fact. I implore you to look up those words. There are no indications that this group used force or coercion to teach its faith. They do not appear to be “cultlike”. You may not like “radical” faiths, but being non-traditional isn’t illegal or wrong. “Destroyed lives”? That could happen any time a family member parts ways. Who is being intolerant in this case?

I believe that your “intelligent and very independent person” either took a leap of faith and accepted the Warrick’s religious beliefs (like ANY OTHER follower of a faith) or that young woman wasn’t as independently minded as you’d thought.

Although "broken families" are sad and non-mainstream religions might be scary to some, they ARE NOT indicators of a problem; they are indicators of RELIGIOUS FREEDOM.

Proselytizing on publicly-accessible grounds is not illegal or wrong unless it is done through coercion (such as using military rank/position to promote religious views). Proselytizing is a Constitutional right. Stop trying to coddle the cadets; they’re adults.

I challenge anyone that wants to interfere with the Warrick’s non-mainstream faith, to CEASE stating that they believe in religious freedom. Clearly you do not believe in the free exercise of faith under the Constitution and legal structure of our country.

Some may not like whatever the Warricks believe, but it is not the government’s role to interfere until the practice of their faith interferes with good order and discipline.

For what it's worth, I don't believe a thing that these people appear to be preaching.
