Re: “Denver Post does (medicinal) dope

For over 40 years, marijuana use has been a priority target in the Government's total failure called the War On Drugs. Untold billions of dollars have been spent, untold thousands have been imprisoned for simple possession and use, and untold damage has been done to the credibility of U.S. drug enforcement agencies, over the issue of marijuana. Even now, after the Voters of Colorado have spoken, approving marijuana use to ease illness and suffering, many government officials continue to run interference, desperately trying to derail the legalization (or at least decriminalization) of marijuana use. It is a shame to see such arrogance in our elected and appointed goverment officials, and it is a shame that sick people are still persecuted for seeking relief from their suffering by smoking a simple weed.

It is long past time for the U.S. to essentially "Grow-Up" and become Adults over this issue. There is no valid reason not to.

Police and DUI law enforcers need not worry; "intoxicated while driving" is what it is, and people who are driving on the roads still need to be sober, so no issue there. Young children should not be allowed to freely use marijuana, any more than smoke cigarettes or drink alcohol. Adult supervision of children is necessary in all respects, so again, no real issue there.

The only people for whom this IS a real issue are those who suffer from chronic illness, nausea, pain, insomnia, etc., who can or would experience relief from suffering by using marijuana. My Opinion: get off their backs, have some compassion for those people; it won't COST YOU anything. America: use public funds and resources for 100 other things, which are all far more important for the Public Good, and walk away from this issue.
