November retail marijuana measure dies

As previously reported, an effort to ask voters to approve recreational marijuana sales in Colorado Springs got started a bit late in the game, leaving a narrow procedural window to make it happen.

As of press time, a resolution to refer the question to November’s ballot is nowhere to be found on City Council’s agenda for the Aug. 22 regular meeting. The deadline for referral is Sept. 8, so unless Council calls a special meeting, the window has closed.

A majority on Council is open to letting voters decide whether to allow adult-use marijuana establishments. So, even though you won’t see a marijuana question on this November’s ballot, you can consider it more dormant than dead.
