Old and New

When: 2009
Price: $10-$50

Even if you're not that deep into classical music, and don't recognize works by name simply by hearing a few notes, most likely you would recognize Beethoven's Fifth Symphony, first performed 200 years ago in Vienna, as well as Mozart's Magic Flute overture. Now add in piano concertos, including a special appearance and performance by Keith Emerson of progressive rock Emerson, Lake and Palmer fame (if you heard "Lucky Man" on the radio, you'd remember that too). It adds up to a Colorado Springs Philharmonic concert worth seeing, either at 8 p.m. Saturday or 2:30 p.m. today at Pikes Peak Center (190 S. Cascade Ave., Tickets run $10 to $50. — Ralph Routon
