Otis Taylor

When: Jan. 2-3 2016

With some artists, it's hard to find something unique to write about. With Otis Taylor, it's hard to find something that isn't. He's a contemporary bluesman who plays banjo as one of his primary instruments; a railroad worker's son who has written about the lynching of his great-uncle and named his first two albums Blue Eyed-Monster and When Negroes Walked the Earth; a Boulder resident who's put on his own Trance Blues Festival for the past five years and is touted by Guitar Player magazine as "the most relevant blues artist of our time." You can catch him at Dazzle Jazz (930 Lincoln St., Denver, Saturday at 7 and 9 p.m., or Sunday at 6 and 8 p.m, for $22 in advance, $25 at the door. — Bill Forman
