Palaye Royale have a thing for death. Two albums into their career, the “theatrically charged fashion-forward rock band” of 20-somethings has already released songs called “Die for Something Beautiful,” “Dying in a Hot Tub,” “Death Dance” and “Death Is a Party, Invite All Your Friends.” Also, “Cemeteries No. 1 (Running)” and “Cemeteries No. 2 (Dreams of Lieseil).”

Fortunately, the three Canadian transplants, who now reside in Las Vegas, are not an emo band — which makes early death reasonably less certain — although they do share a fascination with “gone-too-soon” legends like Johnny Thunders and, based on their current image, Hanoi Rocks. As with their James Iha-produced debut album, the trio’s pronounced New York Dolls influence is still much in evidence on its 2018 follow-up
Boom Boom Room (Side B).

But the album also finds them indulging their inner Anglophiles, a risk faced by any band that’s stuck in the same town as The Killers. And yes, they are calling this The Funeral Tour, but it’s probably just a passing phase.
