Patty’s Gourmet Hamburgers goes ham with a cordon bleu burger

When last we visited this food truck, we found some pretty good burgers that boasted veggies ground into the patty as a way of standing out. We don’t see that on the menu. Instead, we see a selection of fun and funky burgers, as well as house-made sides and more.

Of everything available, we’re most taken with the daily special Cordon Bleuger. It starts with a 5-ounce patty with Swiss atop. That’s topped with a slab of ham steak and more Swiss. It’s piled upon lettuce and house-made “half-sour” onions, as well as garlic aioli and coarse-ground mustard. There’s a lot of rich fat and savory flavors on the menu, but we give it a shot because, hell, why not? And we’re glad we did. Yes, the ham, beef and cheese present a mighty flavor profile, but between the sweet tang of the onions and the bite of the mustard, it’s all balanced.

On the side, we choose house-made potato salad over pasta salad or fries, with light saucing, tender potatoes and cooling celery, a delight.
