I personally spent the night in a committee hearing of the house this last session. By the time they took up our bill at 3 in the morning [a tactic used to hope we would leave] I was thoroughly convinced that the legislature is for special interests and wealthy lobbyist. It is a joke for the voice of the commoner. The ballot initiative is all we have left for sensible government for everyone. And it is not easy to get an initiative on the ballot either. Only TABOR was accomplished by a quasi grass roots campain; all other successful campaigns paid for their signatures. Democracy is defined by a majority and I distinctly remember my math teacher, Fr. Krieger, teaching us that anything above 50% is a majority, not 55%. I will work hard against these campaigns so that Coloradans have a seat at the table of our laws.
