what i would add to this is the following:
having alcohol in supermarkets would be more convenient but at what cost?
1000's of jobs would be lost in local breweries, distilleries, suppliers and liquor stores and replaced in part by low paying jobs
less product availability the typical supermarket carries between 300 and 1000 alcohol related items while a good liquor store like cheers, coaltrain, powers liquor mart of downtown fine spirits and wines carry more than 5000 items
first lower prices but in the long run higher prices
a local business supports the local economy most of their profits stay at home but that is not the case with out of state corporations such as kroger and walmart
easier access for minors to alcohol
if any we should advocate and support more local businesses to enrich our community
