Re: “Trapped

"Red-light cameras will help keep tabs on drivers, but only four will be installed starting in May at the city's most dangerous intersections, with the city adding six more within a year. "

If the goal is to send tickets out to people, then cameras are great. IF the goal is improved safety, red light cameras will make the intersections more dangerous. Cities across the nation have removed their cameras because the cameras did not make the roads safer. In Peoria, AZ, accidents DOUBLED. Same with Grande Prarie in Canada. Dangerous intersections are dangerous because of the intersection, NOT the drivers! Think about it... the same drivers go through all of the intersections, so if one is worse than another, it is probably the intersection. Light timing has been found to be 100% effective in reducing accidents. Yet, the city doesn't even consult a traffic engineer to see if this is an option. Instead they go straight to the revenue maching, the traffic camera. And let's not fool anyone, it's NOT effective to send the owner (Not necessarily the driver) of a car a citation weeks after he's done something. Try that with your kids next time they act up...
