Re: “Health to pay

You gotta be kidding!--your analysis is so short of "fact" as opposed to "hysteria opinion" about retirement under PERA, I really don't feel like trying to respond with detail. And,yes, the politicians, both local and state, are going to go after working teachers, local government and state employees, policemen, firemen, State highway patrolmen, and those who have already retired after working for years for the State of Colorado, to try and cut benefits that have been agreed to under contract. PERA is not a private corporation, but a State entity--can the State just violate contracts when it wants to do so??? We'll find out, for a lawsuit has been filed on that basis! Are you aware of this? And, you might find out why the State of Colorado, for a number of years, did not pay its contractual amount for the retirement of these state employees, thus placing PERA into financial difficulty--just like the Feds have done with Social Security!
Anyhow, this topic will be vociferously visited in the coming year, and I suggest you get your facts straight and know the WHOLE picture before you attempt to denegrate our PERA retirement system again. By the way, how are those 401k retirements doing???
And, as you can tell by looking at Colorado Springs parks, roads, police, and fire service, you get what you pay for---is Colorado willing to go the same way as this community?--tell the council member and mayor that if they work hard enough, they might get what they wish for--an inferior community with inferior workers and employees. The "view" of Pikes Peak does not make up for decent retirement benefits after many years of loyal and dedicated service!
