Well, I’m excited! The board at the PPBC has been asking itself: “Why should anyone become a member of the PPBC? What’s the benefit for the blues music lover?” Most of our functions are free or at very low cost to the public so there hasn’t been a need for anyone to purchase a membership except for altruistic reasons. We are working to change this by providing tangible benefits for being a member of PPBC. We want to increase our roles of active members. The more active members, the more activities we can bring to Colorado Springs. • We are building a new interactive website. Become a PPBC member. Buy merchandise. Volunteer to help with our programs. Look at links for local bands. Find out what’s happening in the CS blues world. • We are going to be giving away blues coffee mugs with new or renewal membership. The 2017 cup will be here soon! • We have really upped our game by having a stronger alliance with Stargazer’s Theatre. Quarterly jams, local and regional blues talent showcases once each month. • We are having more artist seminars. Tommy Castro was great a few months ago. • Paint the Town Blue is back. We are at Thorndale Park for this year only. Vote for your favorite act at the end of the concert series and you may see them at the “Paint the Town Blue Review” at Stargazer’s in September. • PPBC will be continuing its blues educational outreach with more “Blues In the Schools” and the “New to the Blues Jam Seminars”. • Look for our new “cool” merchandise available at our events and on the Website. Please join PPCB (literally) in supporting the blues and our blues activities throughout the year. Thanks you for listening. Jim Sesters
