Playing Around: The Vendors

Heavy on the indie-rock, but light on the twang, The Vendors are a consummate Colorado band. Strange, because they're from Wisconsin. Originally from Madison and composed of brothers Jon Schultz (bass), Chris Schultz (guitar and backup vocals) and Ben Schultz (drums), and their friend Jef Krauth (lead singer and guitar), The Vendors moved to Colorado Springs about a year ago for (believe it or not) jobs. With a sound that sidles up to the likes of Uncle Tupelo, Counting Crows and Bruce Springsteen with a just enough '80s punk edge for some dive-bar-blast, this group of transplants should make the perfect addition to the local music scene.
