Steele, Daniels, Louis and Hall are quite the motley crew. And their attempt at self-description shows it: Rikki Dee Hall is "the organizer" of the group; Michael Louis is "the talent"; John Michael Steele is "the innovator"; and Jack Daniels is the "flabbergasted spectator."

It's all quite vague. But these four men somehow seem to make it work.

During their performances, as each member sings and strums his guitar, their collective music sense comes together in a more obvious fashion: These guys just love playing music. And live performances offer a chance to share the love.

"I want the audience to feel that we are all wired together for the night," Daniels says, "experiencing a symbolic exchange of positive energy, where, for a while, we all leave the problems of the world outside."

Now, this all sounds quite serious. Really serious. Almost too serious. Enough to make you wonder if these guys are actually fun enough to put on an entertaining show or if their act is nothing more than a class on music theory.

Luckily, just as you start to think that, they calm you down.

When asked what he and his bandmates go through in preparing for a show, Daniels laughs: "I could tell you. But I would have to kill you."
