Re: “UPDATE: MRFF calls out chaplain who says not all religions need constitutional protection

Aside from the hypocrisy involved by someone who ostensibly believes that 'thou shalt not bear false witness...' thing clearly lying about supporting & defending the Constitution (perhaps there's domionist 'finger-crossing' maneuver that gets around committing that particular sin, or maybe he believes in a Christian variant of 'takiyya' - wrongly said by Islamophobes to be an allowance for Muslims to lie when convenient - that does allow Christians to lie... whenever), is the issue of the domionist infiltration of our government (they use 'creeping Shari'a as a misdirection to cover their own 'creeping domionism') at all levels. In this instance the military (they're dying to get their end-times hands on the nukes!) but now in the highest levels of government; including the 'current occupant' & his hand-picked advisors. Make no mistake, the agenda is the creation of the mythical 'Christian Nation' David Barton reconstructs history to say once existed. Our secular democratic government is at risk and the Demopublican Janus-faced duopoly maintains business as usual... going along to get along; Weimar 1930.

Re: “Choice of lesbian commandant at Air Force Academy stirs debate

Gen. Goodwin's appointment is a feather in the USAF's cap since, as Mikey notes since nothing about her private life interferes, in any fashion, with her ability to do her job. This should be the only criterion against which one's personal life should affect their professional life in government service. It is no surprise that Christian domionists & supremacists like Dowty or Ms. Moore (Christian fanatic Judge Roy Moore's wife) have their hair standing on end over this appointment since they presume that their personal mythologies should regulate every aspect of not just American life, but of all lives everywhere. One can only hope the the same courage shown by those who selected Gen. Goodwin does not desert them when the gathering storm of fundamentalist intolerance breaks over the Pentagon.

Re: “New female AFA commandant moving here soon, with her wife

Whoa!! Hard to top Mikey's 'Hell's frozen over' assessment of this - hard to overstate the importance of - appointment in the midst of the most overtly homophobic administration ever. Reading the story from OutSmart (linked above), it's clear that Gen. Goodwin's fully qualified for the position and will very likely bring a much needed breath of fresh air to the position. One can only wonder whether her appointment isn't a gauntlet thrown down by those responsible for her appointment to an administration that's committed to second class citizenship for a whole slew of our citizens, gays in particular. Living just 35 miles down the road from her prior command, Barksdale AFB I had no idea she was in command there (one would have thought the Air Force would have chosen to highlight that fact) and I was moved by the fact that her personal quarters signage read Col. and Mrs. Goodwin. One can only hope that the AFA has equal good grace. Kudos to those responsible for her appointment and all good wishes to her & her family.

Re: “UPDATE: More about the AFA coach tweeting salvation messages

While the current Constitutional 'win' is certainly to be celebrated, it is also critical to understand that pending a sincere commitment by the AFA leadership to upholding the secular precepts of the Constitution, this is merely the latest in a series of battles to keep fundamentalist domionist Christianity from overrunning our nation's military institutions; active duty included. Lobotzke, the latest 'sacrificial lamb' will surely be followed by others, as he is merely the latest in a series of provocateurs attempting, bit by bit, to chip away the 'wall of separation' that keeps us from descending into the Christofascism that so characterized pre-modern Europe and which forced those who settled America to flee. That this is a coordinated effort is obvious since both Lobotzke and his AFA employers could not help but be aware (considering the extensive history of conflict with MRFF over similar issues) of the unconstitutional nature of the provocation. And, considering the profound Christian fundamentalism of the incoming Trump regime one can only expect the provocations to increase in frequency & magnitude and for the willingness to adhere and acquiesce to Constitutional dictates to only wither further. The fight is far from over.

Re: “AFA coaches must provide "appropriate disclaimer" on Twitter accounts

I was going to post a comment on this 'non-fix' to the problem [is that by intent?], but find I cannot improve on 'birdmanblue's' excellent comment! Attaboy Birdmanblue!!

Re: “AFA football coach uses tweets to evangelize

'BirdManBlue's' post is directly on point and I appreciate the insight.

Re: “AFA football coach uses tweets to evangelize

It's hard to know how to respond to this latest affront the the Constitution, the 3rd in 48 hours, from the evidently 'converted' institution formerly known as the United States Air Force Academy, but now more properly the 'Holy Blood of the Lamb School of Sacred Airborne Imperialist Aggression' [a fully taxpayer funded parochial university of Christian fundamentalist dogma and applied military skills]. This most recent affront; evangelizing via a government-sponsored Twitter account by someone who cannot be anything less than intimately aware of the long history of Constitutional violations that have cropped up repeatedly, like a bad case of hemorrhoids, from within the very department in which he works and who occupies a position in the hierarchy in which he should not only be aware of AF directive 1-1 but who should be responsible to insuring it is carried out, cannot be anything less that a supervisor-approved, intentional act of sedition against the Constitution the former AFA is specifically empowered to defend and protect (if I understand correctly, as a civilian, he's not been required to swear such an oath). In his arrogant contempt for the regulations, he doesn't even bother to use a private, non-governmental Twitter account. That would spoil the intent, don't you see?

That as an employee of a government entity, utilizing a government-funded means of communication for proselytizing his personal religious beliefs conflates them to be official government policy in violation of the Constitution's 'Establishment Clause' is unarguable.

Those who colonized this country were fleeing state-mandated religious beliefs in order to freely practice what they believed (let's disregard the genocide & religious dictatorship they themselves practiced upon arrival). When our founders decided to write a constitution laying out the core beliefs of the new nation, they specifically understood that a monolithic state religion was anathema to democracy and led only to religious wars (of which Europe provided aplenty) and therefore specifically forbade it in the document we all now revere. But, those lessons, under the pressure of a few dogmatic and unrelenting fanatics, are destroying the secular democracy endowed to us by the founders and the framework for a new Christofascist theocracy is being laid.

Where's the outrage?
