I could be Floyd's twin. I purchased property in 1990 for retirement and had no idea it was a county road until I applied for an address in 2006 to start our new home. August 2007, I asked Grantham for the history on how the Forest Service put a forest road through private property and I still do not have an answer. I just sent a written request for an answer. My property was patented in 1893. The Forest Service was not founded until 1905. I found a 1899 map that did not show the road. Thus, RS2477 does not apply. There are no resolutions or filed easements on record. However, I was told by the county that there is no way I can close the road and If I tried I would not win. The road is considered a high clearance, limited maintained road. I have pot holes that I can go fishing in. My main concerned is safety. There are no speed limits or any other restrictions on the ATVers. We even had a monster jeep come within inches of our fence so that he could show his unrestrained kids how it felt to go over a tree stump. Ultimately, I have an easement that I pay tax on that I can not use but everyone else can abuse.
