El Paso County Parks has announced that Rainbow Falls Recreation Area, a historic site, will be closed through July for major renovations to the trail and parking area, and upgrades adjacent to the falls.

The site, on the west side of Manitou Springs, was once a top tourist attraction. It was apparently particularly stunning before the construction of the 1932 U.S. 24 bridge that crosses above it. The site has been plagued by stormwater issues and graffiti (earning it the nickname "Graffiti Falls") in recent times.
