Re: “Homelessness easing, potholes tax headed to ballot, and more

I remember this like it was yesterday. Within weeks of the proposal being shot down after the vote it was reported on all the news stations that El Paso county was going to continue to build the jail addition and where the money would be taken from. Hello? Anybody notice in last 8 years there aren't as many buses? Anybody notice how are roads have all become worse for wear? Funny how the story changed from then till now. Now its "We used COPS to pay for the jail addition and no money was ever taken from public programs" yet thats exactly what was reported and it is those very same programs which are crap today. Coincidence?

Re: “Homelessness easing, potholes tax headed to ballot, and more

The city of Colorado Springs is once again trying to pull one over on it's residents. If any of you remember about 8 years ago El Paso county wanted a tax increase to build the addition on the jail. The tax was on the ballot and it was promptly voted down (I know because I voted no on it) but they built it anyways. Do you know where they got the money? They got it from ROAD MAINTENANCE, Public transportation (Buses) and other public works programs like parks and rec. Now it is 7 years later and our roads are in dire shape? Well of course they are and its because of that stupid multi million dollar addition on the jail!! The roads didn't fall into immediate disrepair, it took 7 years and now the residents of Colorado Springs are being taxed for over $50 million which is more then the original cost of the jail addition that the road maintenance fund was raped for.
