Reader: Climate taxes solve nothing

Climate change is a natural, ongoing process as evidenced by scientific measurements like tree ring data that indicates long-term drought is one of the top factors affecting civilizations throughout time. Extended droughts dispersed the Anasazi in the Four Corners region hundreds of years ago. Let's address the biggest threats that are right in front of us. With pipelines diverting flood water from perennial flood zones to reservoirs to supply and recharge drought regions, we get a two for one. By mitigating flood effects, we mitigate drought effects, also. The early leaders of Colorado Springs accounted for this so we have an adequate water supply — for now. Looking forward, we must ensure adequate supplies for future generations. Predictions are for millions more residents in Colorado by 2050. Let's recognize the "Carbon Tax" scam for what it is: a socialist power grab. Taxes solve nothing.
