Reader: Economic reality check

Letters

Re: "Storm clouds ahead?" (News, Jan. 9): "[Mayor] Suthers labeled the local economy as booming, and hailed a thriving job market, citing the $77,000 annual median salary for posted jobs in the region."

Note: $77,000 is the median salary for "posted jobs," not the real per capita personal income in Colorado Springs.

The actual per capita personal income in the Colorado Springs MSA was only $46,529 for 2017, according to numbers last adjusted Nov. 15, 2018, by the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis.
