Reader: Elect someone who'll stand up to those against us

We all probably know someone who has been impacted by the opioid crisis in our state. The pharmaceutical industry has for years pushed the over-prescription of these drugs resulting in great corporate profits. Those born prone to substance abuse have been steered into a negative cycle of withdrawal and need for these drugs.

The pharmaceutical industry's malicious and self-serving business models are unacceptable. We need to elect a governor who will stand up to this industry, someone who will stand up for our communities, families and friends who have been or will be impacted by the opioid crisis. I know Jared Polis is the leader who will fight for us — all of us — to stop this addiction nightmare.

Jared's plan will first address the corporate side of the issue, putting checks on this unchecked industry to stop them from using our communities for profit.

Jared is a leader who can bring everyone to the table — doctors, pharmacies, public health experts and families — and find the best ways to support our communities. With Jared as governor, opioid alternatives will be incorporated into more individual medical plans and the right to medical marijuana for pain management will be protected.

Jared Polis will direct more marijuana tax dollars toward treating victims and supporting impacted communities. He is a leader who will stand up to the industries that work against us. I hope you'll join me in voting for him for governor.
