Reader: Not my wall

Letters

As a friend of mine recently suggested, "If those who support Donald Trump could stop believing everything the Russians tell them for a minute or two, they would realize that the real reason Trump wants a wall 30 feet high and thousands of miles long is as a memorial to himself. He envisions something like the Great Wall of China, centuries old, that will be forever known as The Trump Wall."

Our president is asking for $25 billion from American taxpayers to build the wall (that he said Mexico was going to pay for, remember?). It is estimated that it could cost as much as $70 billion, but let's go with the Trump estimate. For that amount of money we could invest $50,000 for 500,000 kids to go to college, graduating debt-free, and avoid a frivolous government shutdown.

How many people have to suffer and for how long must we continue to bear the expense of propping up an inflated, insatiable ego? Eternity?

Not buying it, not paying for it.
