Reader: Where are all the recycling centers?

Why are there barely any recycling centers around? After living in a few places across America, and then to being able to call Colorado my home for two years now, I have noticed a lack of accessibility to recycling centers here in Colorado Springs. After doing a bit of research, I saw that the Colorado rate is only about 19 percent of recyclables kept out of landfills, which is way under the national average of 35 percent. But with the cost of even the recycling bins at a higher average than most cities, it is no mystery where the problems lie. However with all these Walmarts and King Soopers with large semi-empty parking lots, it doesn't at all seem too far-fetched to get some more easy recycling centers around. As a person who loves the beauty of the landscape here, I would love to push for better outreach on recycling here in Colorado Springs.
