Reader: You reap what you sow

To those who dismiss kids because they eat Tide pods and don't know what gender they are, I would like to point out that the left is showing these generations far more love than the right, so who do you expect them to side with? The people who only ever criticize them or the people who reach out and embrace them?

[LDS] scripture says that leaders should be "Reproving betimes with sharpness, when moved upon by the Holy Ghost; and then showing forth afterwards an increase of love toward him whom thou hast reproved, lest he esteem thee to be his enemy." Your generation left out the second part for 30 years, so this is what you get: new generations blindly following socialists and considering you their enemy because you didn't show them that you loved them.

To those who say that school walkouts are a waste, I point out that the Gun-Free School Zone Act was passed in 1990 [tinyurl.com/schools-gun-free], almost 30 years ago, and you didn't properly enforce it. Why couldn't your generation come to a compromise in 30 years? You point the finger of blame at kids, but what did you do with those 30 years? How many recall elections have you had to remove politicians who refused to compromise? How many ballot measures have you put forth to make schools safer? When have you increased your taxes to pay for more security guards? When did you flood lawmakers with letters, phone calls and emails demanding action?

You haven't, have you? You had 30 years to agree on a solution but you haven't, so the younger generations intend to solve it themselves even if it means taking away your rights. They'll outlive you and turn America into whatever they see fit. If you don't win their hearts back now, they'll turn America into something you never wanted it to be — over your dead bodies — and take guns out of your cold, dead hands if need be.
