Re: “The transgender military debate: policy versus culture

I read where one person here states that the high suicide rate for transsexuals is overly inflated and its because they are struggling to express themselves, but these high numbers are coming from post operative research where the people no longer have to struggle to "be themselves" Then the person goes onto say they were in the military, had PTSD went to the best clinic and "it still did not help" This is the kind of example that proves out beyond a doubt that the military is not ready for transsexuals, nor TS are ready for the military. There are just too many questions, and the military since the military is not serving those personnel in uniform presently, it is just not able to expand its mission at this time. As for a need for a culture shift. When it boils down to i, all armies are in place to do one thing. Kill other people. They are not social clubs they are not secret societies with fun handshakes, they are in place to defend our families and societies. We need our armies functional and without discourse in the ranks. If anything, the writer of this article and many of the other bloggers prove that they ours is not ready yet to integrate sexual and social deviance into their ranks.

Re: “The transgender military debate: policy versus culture

Let's talk about mental health. Currently the military has the second highest suicide rate, right behind post op transsexuals. The military's is 14 person's per 100,000, and the post op transsexual rate is over 40%. Since the military is struggling to find answers to why so many of their people, vets and active duty are fighting this depression, and no one has come up with any legitimate research into why post operative transsexuals are trying to kill themselves. I must urge a step back from integrating transsexuals into the military until we know more about the causes of these two trends. Otherwise we risk pushing transsexual personnel into the pressure that could potentially kill them. I vote no, for now.
