The Channel Cats have been hosting their Sunday night blues jam at The Wayfarer (520 S. Tejon St.) for two years now, and it has been a raging success. The jam runs from 6 to 9 (and often later), featuring local musicians like Jim Adam, Frank Perez and Jake Loggins, and, occasionally, touring artists like Leon Blue, keyboardist for the B.B. King Orchestra. Families, singles and couples, old and young, have danced and enjoyed the music. The Channel Cats will celebrate their second anniversary of the show from 6 to 9 this Sunday. Call Dale at 649-6589 if you want more information.

Most people know that punk rock and skateboarding go hand-in-hand. But a lot of people don't realize that hip-hop and skateboarding do, too. Case in point: Canada's Swollen Members and Sweatshop Union, with the Springs' Archetypes, at The Black Sheep (2106 E. Platte Ave.) this Sunday. (See page 43.) The Canadian groups are touring the United States, and bringing with them Red Dragon's "Skateboard Party" video. Red Dragon is a skate crew that started in Vancouver and includes Colin McKay, Danny Way, Tony Hawk, Bucky Lasek and more big names. In other words, it isn't to be messed with. Even those who aren't so into hip-hop might be interested in going to the show the video is sure to rock.
