Re: “Letters

Jesus is both "devine" and "mortal." But, this is hard to understand. That is why I recommend making the same heart transition Nicodemus did in John 3. Regarding extra-Biblical texts/gospels, they were authored long after the scrolls found in the Qumran caves. Dead Sea scrolls are in Hebrew and Aramaic. I speak Hebrew, and have two personal acquaintances who have translated and preserved these ancient texts. I have been to the school in Jerusalem many times where this is done. But, if extra-Biblical texts are of interest, by all means pursue them. If you are like many others, they will lead full circle back to John 8:32.

Re: “Letters

When we visit Israel, we usually stop by the museum containing the Dead Sea Scrolls. These date back 200 to 300 BC. They show the same books of the Bible we have today. The authors come from various vocations: farmer, shepherd, kings, priests, military commander, businessmen, physician, lawyer, etc.
It is not artificial, rather quite down to earth and relevant to our day. The Bible is the best seller of all time. I am glad we are discussing faith, friends. You can surely devote yourselves to a variety of studies. The Bible describes itself as a never ending fountain. I recommend you place your faith in what it has to say.

Re: “Letters

And So Friends,
We arrive at Faith. Many prefer to put theirs in the God described in 66 books, written over a period of 1600 years, by 40 different authors who, remarkably, were in complete agreement.

Re: “Letters

I've been sitting in classrooms for 5 decades. But, these days I lead group tours of Israel where we stand at the bedrock level with 17 additional layers of civilation above. I should remind readers of the lack of transitional fossils in the record which show changes from one species to another. Regarding archeology, all finds have only proven the reliability of the Bible. Rex
