Re: “Klingenschmitt manages to anger his own party

Ironically, the Southern Poverty Law Center didn't even have an "anti-LGBT hate list" until 2011, some 40 years after the company opened for business.

It wasn't until the company's PR guru, Mark Potok, figured out that the LGBT community was often younger, often Progressive, and most importantly, often affluent, that the company finally recognized anti-LGBT discrimination.

Forty years of silence and suddenly the SPLC are "experts" on LGBT matters. Hopefully, the donors will recognize a ham-fisted marketing ploy when they see one.

Re: “Happy birthday, Atticus Finch

That's funny, on page 80 of his autobiography, "A Season for Justice," Morris Dees writes that he ran for a seat in the Alabama State Assembly on the States' Rights ticket, which he claims was "closely aligned with Strom Thurmond's 'Segregation Forever!' Dixiecrats."

That same year, Dees writes that he signed on as Youth Coordinator for George Wallace's first gubernatorial campaign. Dees was apparently so enamored of Wallace's message that Dees wanted to make sure it got out to the young people.

On page 85 of his autobiography, Dees brags about accepting thousands of dollars from the Montgomery KKK to keep one of its most vicious thugs out of federal prison.

That thug, Claude Henley, was charged by Bobby Kennedy’s DOJ with leading a violent mob against a bus load of Freedom Riders. While Dr. King was facing down Bull Connor’s attack dogs, Mr. Dees was cashing the Klan’s dirty checks.

Dees, who has kept more Klansmen OUT of prison than he’s ever sent there, meets every one of his own organization’s criteria for a Klan lawyer. (http://wp.me/pCLYZ-F)

And finally, in 2010, NOT ONE of the SPLC's top ten, highest paid executives is a minority, much less an immigrant. http://wp.me/pCLYZ-3r

While the SPLC displays a "diverse" Board of Directors on its website, including Julian Bond, all of the Directors, with the exception of SPLC co-Founder Joe Levin, are unpaid advisers with no impact on SPLC policy or personnel. It's nothing more than simple PR "brown-washing". http://wp.me/pCLYZ-p

Dees may claim Atticus Finch as a hero in his fund-raising propaganda, but I doubt the feeling would be mutual.
