Re: “Sheriff showdown

So many claims have been made of these blogs that I have found it necessary to keep score, just to be fair:
Chief Shirk is a terrible tipper vs. Sheriff Maketa has a dispatcher who’s a stripper. As much as I like strippers, I think a tightwad Sunday school teacher would do a better job with my tax dollar. Advantage Shirk.
Chief Shirk allows passengers to ride without seatbelts vs. Sheriff Maketa allows the former DA to drive a county vehicle while drunk. I believe in seatbelts, but drunk drivers are worse. Advantage Shirk.
Chief Shirk has a plan to increase patrols by 20 percent with no budget increase vs. Sheriff Maketa announced he will increase patrols by 33 percent at the end of this year. Maketa has been the Sheriff for eight years. Where has he been hiding this idea? Is he investing our tax dollars in lotto tickets? Advantage Shirk.
Chief Shirk wants to put more felons in jail vs. Sheriff Maketa transfers detectives arrested for felonies to work in the jail. What a deal! If I get busted Sheriff, please don’t put me in jail; give me a job. Advantage Shirk.
Chief Shirk has a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree, and 35 years of experience vs. Sheriff Maketa has completed some college classes and has 23 years of experience. Size matters. Advantage Shirk.
Chief Shirk was a commanding officer in a large metropolitan police department and chief of a small town vs. Sheriff Maketa is a homegrown product of one department hand picked by his predecessor to be Sheriff. Again, size matters. Advantage Maketa.
Chief Shirk announced his candidacy after Maketa quit the race vs. Maketa quit after he decided he didn’t have the fire in his belly. Sounds painful. Advantage Shirk.
Chief Shirk has to answer a federal complaint regarding the Hatch Act because his department received a few hundred bucks from a federal grant vs. Sheriff Maketa was apparently involved to some degree in lodging the complaint over a law that he, himself, violated when he ran for Sheriff. Sneaky. Advantage Shirk.
Chief Shirk has to talk to Pam Zubek because the mainstream media pussyfoots around the real issues vs. Sheriff Maketa breaks wind and the Gazette has a new headline story. Advantage Maketa.
So far, Shirk is ahead. However, if the Maketa eats a lot of beans, the Gazette might declare him the winner before early voting begins.

Re: “Maketa campaign reveals investigation involving opponent

The attorney representing the Republican Party was politely saying that our sheriff is a real sleaze Other than several local elected officials who are afraid of his political clout, Mr. Maketa’s only real support is a small, yet very vocal contingent of bootlickers from within his own organization. If he really wants to do this community a service, Mr. Maketa would bow out of the race and let the men and women of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office save what is left of their dignity. No, that would take class. Mr. Maketa has proven once again that he has none!

Re: “UPDATE, 7/9: GOP picnics, Maketa arrives late

Maybe if Maketa his Pole Dancing Dispatchers, someone might have noticed.

Re: “Sheriff's race heats up as Maketa slams challenger Shirk's credentials

It takes a college degree to teach REAL university classes. Maketa teaches BS (not Bachelor of Science) classes for Penn State's law enforcement training program, not REAL college classes. In fact, he is not even qualified to teach at the community college level. Chief Jake is the REAL thing, not a BS imitation.

Re: “Star treatment

We have heard that there is video of Newsome and Maketa together during beer gate. If this is true, why is this being withheld by the TV station?
