Sallie Clark got a raise joining Trump administration

Former three-term El Paso County Commissioner Sallie Clark, who was term-limited a year ago, is now paid a salary of $105,123 by President Donald Trump's administration.

As the state's director of rural development for the Department of Agriculture, Clark is paid about 20 percent more than her $87,300 commissioner salary. She was hired by Trump in November.

County commissioners elected in 2016 — including Clark's successor, Stan VanderWerf, and Longinos Gonzalez and Mark Waller — are paid $113,490, as will be successors of Commission President Darryl Glenn and Commissioner Peggy Littleton, to be elected this year.
