Re: “Colorado Springs parks report shows good value

This meeting/party was hosted by the El Pomar Foundation as part of their Pikes Peak Recreation and tourism, Heritage Series. No city funds were used. Guess that got left out of the story.

Re: “Update: Tim Mitros leaves his city job

I'm very sorry to see Tim leave. He was one of the good guys and did what was in his opinion right for the citizens. Very nice guy to work with and talk to. Best wishes to Tim in his future endeavors

Re: “Legal opinion released; Zoo urges approval of land swap

Jim I know the Bear Creek property is 8.6 acres. The picture above says "This tract of acreage across from Bear Creek park". That is not the acreage, that is the park itself. That's all I was pointing out.

Re: “Legal opinion released; Zoo urges approval of land swap

There were plenty of public meetings. The plan changed considerably from the beginning due to citizen's comments. Everything has been up front. No one hid anything. The PARK DEPARTMENT got what it wanted. The city went to the Broadmoor because they want to complete the Chamberlain Trail. The city cannot afford to do the maintenance and work needed for that piece of property. It will be better cared for and much nicer when all the work is completed.

It's sad the Save Cheyenne group is looking to sue and making the city spent thousands of our tax dollars in court. The only one that will come out ahead is Bill Lewis, their attorney. A better use of the money they have would be to put it in a Master Plan and work with the Broadmoor on a Master Plan for Strawberry Fields.

Would be nice if the photo with this piece was correct. That's Bear Creek Park, not the 8.6 acres included in the swap.

Re: “Land swap approved by 6-3 vote

There is an error in the article. The Broadmoor has stated they do not plan on fencing off the 8.5 acres and hope people will be respectful of the property and not trespass.
