Re: “Helen Collins' ethics hearing opens

So, now, I'm not even allowed to post comments to the Independent without Joel Miller challenging my identity! What a bully. Joel, I have identified myself, but how about "Curious" and "Staci6," who have rushed to Helen Collins' defense in this same comment thread? Are they, also, "too cowardly to even say who they are"? How would you feel if I accused YOU of being their string puller? Or, perhaps, their relative?

Re: “Helen Collins' ethics hearing opens

Mr. Miller, I have to agree with Byron. It is unbelievable you or anyone could stand up for Helen Collins at this point. She should have had the decency to step down from office long ago as you did. She is selfishly putting our city through this spectacle after having engaged in actions that not only were unethical but also could still result in criminal charges against her. She committed those acts in the service of Doug Bruce, her political funder and string puller. That's not my opinion; there are witnesses who already have sworn under testimony before the ethics commission that Bruce actually bragged the he got Collins elected and that she now owes him. She deserves to have the book thrown at her.

Re: “Let the electoral games overlap

How can this Gordon James Klingenschmitt claim a state lawmaker—whether a conservative Republican like Bob Gardner or anyone else—could "co-sponsor Obamacare" in the General Assembly? Does he think voters are stupid? Neither party had anything to do with enacting that federal law. It was Congress' doing. Klingenschmitt accuses Gardner of a "phony denial," but given Klingenschmitt's own flat-out fallacy, he sounds like the phony to me. Voters are sick and tired of that kind of fast and loose campaign rhetoric. I'm going to guess some BIG MONEY and SLICK CONSULTANTS out of Washington are behind Klingenschmitt's early use of the big lie.

Re: “Collins lashes out, seeks delay in ethics proceeding

Ridiculous is right, as well as insulting. How can she possibly expect us to believe any of this nonsense? She is just digging her hole deeper. She should have the decency to admit the truth and then step down from office.
