Re: “Can Air Force Academy cadets become parents while enrolled? Apparently so.

I believe the new Commandant of Cadets, Brig Gen Goodwin, will get to determine the outcome of this.

Re: “Watchdogs criticize Trump's easing of ban on 'politicking from the pulpit'

Deb Walker misstates the 1st Amendment, which does NOT call for the "separation between church and state." I recommend she read the 1st Amendment and quote it properly. Her statement is the standard incorrect statement made by those who normally have issues with religious freedom.

Re: “Reader: Correct this blatant violation of the separation of church and state

Mr. Sulzman clearly and purposely misquotes the Constitution which makes NO reference to a separation of church and state. That is a later interpretation of law. As written in the 1st Amendment of the Constitution, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,". Almost all military bases have on-site churches/chapels built to support their military community. The AFA having one is no different, but as a high visibility national facility, all the structures of the campus were built beyond normal costs and aesthetic/artistic planning considerations.

Re: “Hate in politics, Standing Rock, dumping the good ol' boys, and more

Longinos Gonzalez is the much better candidate in Commissioner District 4 race. He is an AF veteran, teacher, and also a successful small businessman. He would bring much needed diversity to local leadership that we keep asking for, has been involved locally and spoken on behalf of poor neighborhoods, at-risk kids, and on veterans issues. And he is a political outsider, having pulled off a surprise, upset victory in his primary.

Re: “Our local leadership monoculture

Good article by John, but in highlighting a lack of diversity, he did fail to mention that, if elected, I would bring a voice for an underrepresented Latino community and others to the region. I have demonstrated that I will be a voice for all, and that is why in addition to broad Republican support, the 2 Democrat city council members that John mentions in his article have both endorsed me over their own party's candidate for district 4. Longinos Gonzalez

Re: “Ad responds to pastor down on LGBT citizens

Interesting that the new ad, which was supposed to be about fairness is now being used to criticize individuals who simply decided not to sign it. Was this supposed to be a political tool? By Ms. Cathey's final comment, "Blog away...they used their own rope on this one..." it appears she cares more to divide than to unify. She should apologize for turning the new ad into a political talking point that she can use to criticize others.
