Re: “Who fired that gun?

Rich, Let me try to answer your questions you raise in "Who fired that gun?" When did it become OK to say God helped you gun someone down? If you read your Bible you will soon discover that it always has been OK to ask for Gods help in using deadly force to defeat evil. A few of many examples of this follow: David asked God for assistance in killing Goliath Joshua asked God for help in slaying the Canaanites Samson asked God for help in slaying the Philistines I was taught that God is kind and passionate. God is kind and compassionate ... He is also just, almighty and holy. Your remark comes across like you feel that you somehow are entitled to sit in judgment over the Almighty, Rich. Here again you should read up and see what God has to say. God does not have to explain himself to anyone least of all someone who seems to think that he has all of the answers to morality and can be more compassionate than God Himself. Does the Lord now need us, and our 200 million handguns, to do his work? God does what only He can do and expects people to do what they can. For instance, Jesus commanded those present to move the stone from Lazarus tomb then he raised him from the dead (Re: John 11:39). Obviously he could have had legions of angels move the stone had he so wished. So, the answer is YES he does expect us to defend ourselves. What do you suppose Jesus was intending for the disciples to do with the swords he told them to buy in Luke 22:36? Rich, I sincerely hope that this post will help you will seek out and gain the necessary knowledge, wisdom and reverence before your time comes. After all, it is only Gods forbearance that holds you back from the gaping mouth of hell. He is under no obligation to prevent you from entering into an eternity of unimaginable misery at any time. You, like all of us, are only one heart beat away from eternity. BTW From what you wrote why should we even believe that you are Christian at all? After all, you have demonstrated that you do not even know what the Bible says. Best regards, Scotty
