Re: “A conservation easement could settle some land-swap issues, but it's complicated

As for the swap it hasn't gone through! But conservation easements don't sound as ironclad as the proponents have touted. What can be believed about what supporters have said? All I've seen is "public process" in name only. Diversions, untruths and vague statements are what we have heard. Anything that is promised or planned should be legally signed with EVERY detail spelled out BEFORE moving forward with any considerations, not after. Otherwise it's a blank slate. Better yet, Dear Councilmembers, please just vote NO on this preposterous proposal and protect the public interest and protect ALL of North Cheyenne Canon Park (Strawberry) and ALL of our public parks---which will be at risk if you set a precedent by voting yes.

Re: “City and Broadmoor emails don't explain how land swap evolved

Watching this deal unfold with its strategic omissions and "play calling", divisive design coupled with back room collusion, as well as the secrecy and lack of public transparency saddens me that our community is but a microcosm of the greater dysfunction in American politics and society. Money talks, quests for "more" and quests for power are insatiable, special interests favored, government "knows best", opponents demonized and discredited when they actually have legitimate concerns and questions and our elected and non elected government leaders fail to represent those they are employed and entrusted to protect: the public citizen. And in this particular case the protection of open space, the public vote, a historic public park, the wildlife in our unique mountain setting and the character of our community also deserve the utmost respect and protection. I pray that the unfortunate current city council who have had this debacle dumped on their laps are not afraid to judicially, discerningly and morally evaluate what is occurring in this process and realize the precedent they will set by their actions, whichever way they vote.

Re: “The latest on The Broadmoor land swap

Some local teens took some photos this past weekend of trash including a vehicle, stairs, graffiti and other unsightly debris ---ALL on Broadmoor owned land. These are all gps marked for validity. They also show an ominous fence with barbed wire I'm sure even the wildlife can't cross.…

A gentleman did reference these photos at the meeting last night but he was rudely interrupted by a heckler in the audience who supports the swap. Maybe the Indy should include one of these photos in this article for perspective.

The trash/better steward of the land argument is disingenuous and needs to stop. All property is vulnerable to illegal trash dumping which does happen EVERYWHERE. Private property owners are constantly forced to pay thousands of dollars to clean up trash and graffiti on their land placed there by thoughtless individuals or face fines by the city. All our city parks are abused this way too. Does this mean all our public parks are open season for private ownership?

As the Google album shows even the "good steward of the land" has garbage on their property.

Re: “An inside look at Strawberry Fields

Just heard there are 16 new "no parking" signs and boulders blocking parking along Mesa next to Strawberry Fields. I went and looked today and it's true!! Our limited access appears to be beginning!!!! What is going on and why isn't the city listening to the constituents???

Re: “Skorman and Broadmoor boss get into it

This has been an orchestrated dog and pony show from the beginning. Thank you Mr. Skorman for calling a spade a spade.

Re: “Appraised values in Broadmoor land swap still secret

More back pedaling, spin and double talk.

Shameful that our city leadership promoted this "exciting" proposal to the public before verifying facts, attempting to shape public opinion with confusing, unverified and fluid information. Mount Muscoco property at 208 acres comes to only $117,000 instead of millions!! Even my councilman rep was touting the millions figures as justification to support this swap! Also the Bear Creek parcel of 8-9 acres will be rezoned PK so a residential value of $1M+ is ludicrous for city to consider. And how much can the incline be worth? Seems like an attempt for a fast one....
