Indy: Where the hell have the Counting Crows been?

DV: I think we just needed a breather. After 10 years straight of touring record after touring record, I think it was just a much-needed break.

Indy: Over the past few years, you guys have released a greatest-hits compilation, a soundtrack tune, and now a live concert. Would it kill you to release a new studio album?

DV: We're working on that. We just went in May to start recording the first half of it. We're going to work on more of it during the tour [with the Goo Goo Dolls].

Indy: How does it sound?

DV: It's a little more rocking. It sounds pretty damn good to me, and I'm a pretty harsh judge.

Indy: Who in the music world do you think is underrated?

DV: Radiohead is underrated, even though they are a darling band. I just think what they are doing is tremendous.

Indy: Anyone you think is overrated?

DV: I've always thought that Pink Floyd was overrated. Is that OK to say?

Indy: Sure, if you're a freak! Then again, you are touring this summer with the Goo Goo Dolls. What's your favorite schmaltzy Goo track?

DV: What's that song, "Name"? It brought back The Replacements thing to me.
