Christian and Stefany Patriarca’s Colorado Springs story is like many others’. They moved from Florida on Dec. 27, 2016, seeking medical marijuana to treat their youngest daughter, Sofia, who has cerebral palsy and epilepsy. When we speak, Christian says she’s doing much better.

Christian, Stefany and business partner/co-owner Olivier Leheux run Slice 420 (2501 W. Colorado Ave., #108, 368-6977, stampcloud.net), named for Sofia’s medication — they don’t make THC- or CBD-infused food. Rather, since Sept. 28, they have served New York pizza, Parisian crepes and house-made pastries. It’s an odd combination born of an odd coincidence — Leheux met the Patriarcas the day after they moved to Colorado, while working at American Furniture Warehouse. Leheux and Christian hit it off immediately and talked about starting a restaurant.

“With him, it’s a dream,” says Leheux. “I always wanted to do a pizza [place], but I never found the right person.”

Both have their fair share of culinary chops. Leheux, a native Parisian, has been cooking since 1987. After attending four years of culinary school in Paris, he moved to the Springs in 1999 and worked at the Marigold Café and Bakery for two years. He’s since worked at Caspian Café and now-closed La Belle Vie.

Christian comes from The Bronx, New York, though he’s spent most of his life in Florida. He’s been in kitchens since he was 12, and he’s run a variety of restaurants throughout Florida. Amusingly, though, he says he didn’t start making pizza until he left New York.
Both chefs say the menu’s all fresh and house-made as possible, down to house-made bread and salad dressing.

“Nothing’s frozen, nothing’s out of the package, everything’s made here,” says Christian.
