Re: “Out of the breadbox

I worked for a local waste company last year. The amount of food stuff, and general merchandise that is disposed of is insane. Food that is expiring that day, just truck loads of it. I was primarily on the compactors that the local food chains use, to keep "Dumpster Divers" out. At the fill chute point, which was exposed once the compactor was secured to be loaded, would be still cold meats(sushi trays, frozen bacon, hams), veggies(whole bags of potatos) and fruits(flats of berries), bakery items(bagels, breads, cookies, cakes, the $17-20 ones). At some of the "Box Stores" you would get all manner of food, and merchandise. Bicycles, camping gear, home products, on and on. Truly a waste, as it passed tent cities to the dump, or transfer station.
