Re: “Is the Gazette's new marijuana series a joke?

A driver drove his vehicle through the side of a house in Pueblo and killed a child. He was clearly impaired by alcohol. Alcohol. Alcohol. Alcohol.

Re: “Blame it on chemtrails

Vapor. It eVAPORates. See how that works? When it doesn't evaporate, what is it? Oh, sorry. I'll shut up. I know, all you want is your next two-for-one coupon. Go back to watching Golden Girls. Sorry to bother you. And I'm disappointed that the Indy is just blowing it off. How about at least testing some rain water or making a few phone calls? If it were smog being produced by industry, the Indy would be all over it. But when it's just clouds being made by aircraft in obvious grid patterns, it's easier to just minimize it. Go back to your latte, Matthew.

Re: “ReLeaf: Fall 2013

I'm curious ... what do you Tea-Party jihadists teach your kids about changing things by voting? Not only about marijuana, but about anything? You need to be "weeded" out.

Re: “Colorado Springs bans recreational-marijuana stores

And Tejon, where the hell do you get that Pueblo exports drugs, crime and poverty?

Re: “Colorado Springs bans recreational-marijuana stores

TejonTech, I resigned from Focus. And Siggie, are you a psychologist? I am not obsessed with Focus on the Family. Just speaking from my experience. (You're no grammarian either -- that's a heck of a double-negative-laden sentence you constructed up there) I've been patient to explain my reasoning as to freedom of choice. No, I don't LIKE abortion. But I believe there should be a choice. Apparently 5 people read and understood my post. Even gave it a "like," so apparently they got it. Yet you choose to be belligerent, assuming I am in favor of late-term abortion. You're clearly all over the road. Settle down.

Re: “Colorado Springs bans recreational-marijuana stores

Siggie, I don't know your background. I spent 25 years as an evangelical and even worked for nearly a decade at Focus On The Family. Dr. Dobson is a behaviorist who, like many conservatives, believes that behavior can be eradicated by laws and punishment. They like to ban books they don't see as appropriate. They seek to ban behaviors they see as evil or immoral.

Prior to legalized abortion, many young girls died as the result of botched procedures. Legalizing it, while a dismal option, at least brought a modicum of standardization and safety to those who felt they needed it. Yet, if you were to speak to most conservatives, they would be giddy with delight if Rowe vs Wade were overturned and we were returned to the days of back alley butchers. In the springtime, I see moms with their little 8 or 9-year-old daughters in parking lots, both holding signs repudiating abortion. Surely, if one were to ask the child why abortion is legal, she couldn't tell you.

By the same token, I don't think most people know why marijuana is illegal. It's just evil. That's it. And it should be banned. It's a huge sell job, starting back in 1936 with the propaganda film "Reefer Madness."

What abortion and marijuana have in common is CHOICE. I believe everyone should have the right to choose whether or not they walk into a legal place where the good or service is offered with standards and regulations. Who knows, perhaps 20 years from now all those retail marijuana shops will have closed due to loss of interest. I believe in leaving the temptations IN the culture, because if the effects are as negative as everyone says, over time the desire for it will die out.

As for my "paranoia" ... I've been here 60 years and I hear evangelical catch phrases all over the place. But I know the language and I do feel the influence. It's a weird mix of New Testament morality and Randian economic philosophy. I'm glad you're oblivious.

Re: “Colorado Springs bans recreational-marijuana stores

In this evangelical climate, Siggie, there is a parallel between marijuana and abortions, in that "banning" is always the answer. Thankfully, abortion is legal and thus able to be regulated. Not sure why that's so difficult a concept to grasp, except that marijuana users are apparently supposed to be ashamed of themselves because they are evil somehow. Mass hypnosis.
