Editor's note: With the news of the City for Champions stadium project coming to downtown, note that the Colorado Springs Switchbacks and Colorado College Hockey teams will be moving from their current home venues. Unrelated, in 2019 the Sky Sox will be replaced by another minor league team which has yet to be named.

The Colorado Springs sport scene is always growing, with a variety of teams to keep you cheering all year long. If you’re looking for new ways to liven up your weekends or enjoy a game while dual wielding a hot dog and beer, it’s time to get to know our local sport treasures.

Air Force Football

Falcon Stadium, 2169 Field House Drive
The Air Force Falcons bring the excitement of college football to Colorado Springs — and an added layer of friendly military competition whenever the Army or Navy is in town. Air Force Falcons match-ups include games against the University of Nevada – Las Vegas, Colorado State University and more. Insider Tip: The Falcons take tailgating nearly as seriously as football, with 130 spots you can reserve for pre-game carousing, ranging in price from $25 to $50 per game, depending on space size.

Colorado College Tiger Hockey

Broadmoor World Arena, 3185 Venetucci Blvd.
Frequent home games and an enormous home rink at the World Arena have made the CC Tigers a local favorite for hockey fans. If you enjoy a game with a healthy dose of rivalry, be sure to check out any game against the University of Denver Pioneers. Insider Tip: Hit the Prowler Hour before Friday games, which gets you in the game 30 minutes early and features food and drink specials, plus live entertainment. It’s basically a tailgating happy hour, right in the arena.

Sky Sox Baseball

Security Service Field, 4385 Tutt Blvd.
America’s pastime is alive and well at Sky Sox Stadium, where you’ll find dirt-cheap games, frequent fireworks shows and all the ballgame food one’s heart desires. The Sky Sox currently serve as the top affiliate for the Milwaukee Brewers, so there’s a good chance of catching current and future MLB talent, too. Insider Tip: Check out $2 Tuesdays for the best deal around for a night of baseball with the family. Tickets, parking and select beers are only $2.

Colorado Springs Switchbacks

Weidner Field, 6303 Barnes Road
The Switchbacks are relatively new to the Colorado Springs sports scene, but they’ve been welcomed enthusiastically by soccer fans for bringing the beloved sport close to home. The team is currently a member of the United Soccer League with a globally diverse roster of players. Insider Tip: Get to the game early for $1 beers at every match during the first 30 minutes of gates open.
