Re: “Keeping up with Ken Burnley

I don't support it!!! I didn't even know about this meeting. Why didn't the school district send out letter to parents in the proposed zone"...did they “send out letter to all the parents"...did they "let them know of the proposed changes?”

These could have easily been comments from Rockford Illinois parents regarding the recent student assignment surveys that our superintendent Dr. LaVonne Sheffield's hand picked consultant Shannon Bingham hosted here, but they are not. These remarks come from far north of Rockford. These comments were delivered by parents in Wasilla Alaska. All the way up in Sarah Palin territory.

Burnley and Sheffield should know Bingham too and be aware of his skills and capabilities in closing schools. Sheffield quit as chief academic officer and Burnley resigned shortly after. Both left just before Detroit Public Schools executed a contract with Bingham on October 11, 2005 to close and consolidate DPS#12 schools.

It seems there must be no local colleges, universities, or qualified demographers outside of the Boulder Colorado area where Bingham resides because the Mat-Su Borough School District’s superintendent is flying in Bingham of Colorado based Western Demographics to do his demographic studies.

It also seems we live in a small world. Turns out the Mat-Su Borough superintendent, Dr. Kenneth Burnley knows Sheffield. Burnley was the superintendent in charge when Sheffield’s school issued credit card was found to have made purchases to finance her wedding trip to Las Vegas courtesy of Detroit taxpayers.

It was concerning when an Illinois superintendent reached all the way out to a Colorado based demographer to do her student assignment study, and it seems absurd that a school district in Alaska would find the need to fly Bingham in from Colorado…but is a small world after all.
