Re: “Star treatment

Kudos to those employees who have raised some very serious issues and concerns about the lack of leadership displayed by Maketa and those that sweep his infractions under the rug so that they can continue to benefit with their own jobs.

To the LTs and Sgts who have first hand knowledge of his indecretions: Are you okay with allowing those who lack the integrity and morals to chip away at your own character? Are you okay with comprimising your own honesty and work ethic by keeping silent about your knowledge of these serious violations? You are allowing these subordinates and co-workers and the sheriff to diminsh your beliefs and what you are teaching your own children. Are you really okay with that? Those of you who have worked honestly and played by the rules should demand that those who don't be held accountable for their actions and behavior.

It's never too late to do the right thing. Those employees who have knowledge of violations of policy or inappropriate behavior and conduct should come forward. Do it for yourself and your family and do it for the badge that you should be wearing with honor. Contact the reporter and tell her what you know. You have the power to change the way things have been handled. Be silent no longer. Do not offer your silent approval of the disgraceful conduct of the sheriff and his buddy network.

Is it ever okay to not speak up and look the other way? We all know that the economy is causing sufferage to many families. We all worry about losing our jobs. This is what the sheriff and those that ride his coat tails want. They want you to be in fear so that their behavior is not contested. But if you don't speak up now, the problems grow and grow, until maybe one day you find yourself on the short end of the fairness stick. Is it every okay for someone to advance up the career ladder because of what they do outside of work? What if it's you next that is passed over for a promotion because of someone who is less deserving but benefits from their personal relationship with the sheriff? You all have worked hard and deserve recognition. Do not let this go. You owe it to yourself and to those who come after you. Do the right thing! You will have the support you need and deserve. Call Pam Zubeck.
