Re: “Hog heaven

Ok, ok, ok... I want other families to know that this is not exactly as it seems. If Porky's wants families to feel welcome, then things need to change. First of all, the only reason I tried this restaurant was because of the statement, "A parent of young kids, he hopes families will feel welcome, and offers Hula Hoops and sand buckets in the pits." We, a family of 4 plus grandma and 2 additional grand kids, arrive at about 5pm on a Friday night. We are thinking it would be nice to have a few beers, relax, have some conversation and what better place then this place that boasts hula hoops and sand buckets in the pits and it will keep the kids busy for hours. Yeah right. There is not a single kid's food item on the menu. When we asked our waitress what drinks were available for the kids, she looked dumbfounded. I asked for Apple juice, no apple juice. I asked for chocolate milk and she comes back with a giant adult size glass of chocolate milk. But I have 2 kids. "Oh did you want 2 glasses or will they share?" OH MY GOODNESS!Do kids actually ever eat here? We ask for these "hula hoops and sand buckets". We are brought 2 water guns and an octopus. Our waitress says, "Someone else must have beat you to the toys". We look around and notice that we are the only family with kids here. OK then. We order for the kids and get the wrong orders, but hey, that happens in every restaurant. So no judgment call there. 6:15pm, the waitress comes to our table to inform us that there is a "no minors after 6pm" policy and our food had barely just arrived. Shew was very nice, but warned that others might come to our table and not be so nice. And btw, you should only come on league nights. There are plenty of families with kids on those nights. Whatever. 6:20pm, some guy that was sitting at a stool by the entrance all afternoon, comes to our table to tell us there is a "no minors after 6pm" policy and we need to finish eating and leave. Unfreakingbelievable. Talk about this establishment making us feel welcome. I will be right back there again and oh, btw, I will recommend this restaurant to all my friends....NOT! I will continue my quest to find that restaurant that offers entertainment for children while the parents relax, eat and converse. Unfortunately, Porky's is a bar. A bar with volleyball pits for adults. Kids are not wanted there. So families....don't waste your time or money. Spend that $100 somewhere that truly knows how to treat families.
