Re: “Castle Rock's example of building great parks with diverse funding

Bob, thanks for your blog. What jumps out at me is Castle Rock's willingness to invest in a park - significantly, and make it a "budget priority." They get it! I've visited this park on a weekend and it's packed with active people. You better believe realtors are bringing out of town perspective buyers to see this park. I'm sure business leaders are doing the same with companies considering relocation.
I'm not saying we need to build a new $30 million dollar park. But we need to invest more in what makes this community great - our parks!

Re: “Looking toward permanent sustainable funding for city parks

Right on gentlemen! Improved funding for our parks, trails and open space is something we can all support.

Re: “TOSC supports Broadmoor land swap

All we would ask is that your readers check out the conditions the Board placed on the proposal to gain our approval. They put a heavy emphasis on public process and preservation. Read them first, then point out the flaws. You'll find them at

Re: “City to pay $106,722 per acre for trail

This missing link has been on the short list of projects for years. Sure, it would be nice to get it at a lower price, but the railroad doesn't have to sell it and TOPS wants/needs to buy it. This will provide great (and attractive) connectivity when completed. Really! And it's exactly how TOPS should be spent.

Re: “Building trails with thrifted clothes

Adrian - thank you! I feel a bit evil saying this but, so happy your yard sale didn't go any better!

Re: “Back in the saddle

If you look at what other cities are doing to improve bicycling to our north and south, it's time to catch up! Pueblo, Ft. Collins, Denver even Lone Tree. We can do this.

Re: “Once a city guy, Leavitt now speaks for the county

The city's loss is the county's gain. John was one of the best. It's great we get to keep him in this area!
