Re: “Victor’s Second Annual Steampunk Festival

True I don't know the whole story.... But, my first reaction is as follows: So sad that this and GalaxyFest are on the exact same dates.... It's not like there are just so many "local sub-culture" opportunities and events that they need to be in direct conflict and cut-throat competition to prove one is better than the other. If I could- I would support them both and love them both equally - - When I'm forced to choose between one or the other everyone loses out!! The supporting community, the individuals, the event, the vendors, the hosts, ect.... Its bad business practice, business sense, and bad public relations. These event opportunities are too precious and wonderful to be caught-up in a pissing match for the audience's attention. I hope I just don't have the right info, and correct me if I'm wrong, But I hope this is NOT an example of how things are done in the future. We should NEVER have to choose between events that support and share a common interest and purpose. The audience won't respond well to being in the middle of a tug-o-war for attention and recognition. We love and want you both. I sincerely hope this is a mistake and everyone can play nice, be friendly, and come to a better play-date arrangement. This simply won’t do. I want my cake and to eat it too, it's just who I am!!!
Personal note to: Victor steampunk Fest II and it master Mind Doc Cowles:
I know this has probably become a hot topic for you and that it is unlikely there is any "one" specific reason how this conflict happened... But I feel your pain and figure you are the one getting the shaft from the "BIG" City, Yes from the sidelines it looks like they are being Jerks and Stealing your thunder (I don't know the whole story so i may be Wrong). If I could I would be there for you - and I'd bring my friends- But I have other obligations I this weekend and can't make it. Please Don't let these unfortunate circumstances affect your hopes for the future of the Steampunk Fest- I really hope this year’s dates overlapping doesn't dishearten you for your efforts and the love for your event. You are appreciated and your Festival is Loved. You do have an audience and we support you. The general Hope is that TIME and experience is the solution to finding the formula that allows for the BIG City and the Country Cousin to both have their Day of Glory. ~We luv U man~… - GalaxyFest 2014… - Victor Steampunk Fest II

Re: “Red Rocks' regrettable reminder

This is only the tip of the iceberg of what IS NOT reported in a informative manner to the general public. In the past 3 years I personally have witnessed 1st hand, on several occasions, the crime wave ranging from rape, abduction, shootings, and auto thefts that have become chronic and severe at ALL the areas city's parks and public lands. There are many crime reports every week that the CO Sp cops consistently withhold or under report. I asked an officer at one scene where a dozen or so cars were vandalized (and a gun was even stolen out of one) why I cant find any follow-up info in the local news, he said they are profiling the various groups of suspects they believe responsible but don't have the training or resources to dedicate to the problem. By not alerting the general public and under-reporting the level of severity of the problem they have more time (thus are more likely) to eventually catch the criminals. I feel this just shows the police didn't want to bring attention to the actual fact they are not able to do the job tax payers pay them to do..... for what ever reason: poor training, financial, staffing, priorities ... whatever the reason I just know the public areas MANY of us think of as a retreat to get away to enjoy the "Great Outdoors" has been and continues to be places very risky for everyone- more so women- and especially women who hit the trails alone.
