CCL Volunteer Training and
Orientation Workshop

DATE AND TIME:
Thursday, April 30, 2015, 6:15 - 8:45 p.m.

LOCATION AND ADDRESS:
Colorado Springs Penrose Library
20 N. Cascade Avenue
Colorado Springs, CO

At this workshop, you will learn about the profound difference we make when we empower and inspire our members of Congress to action. You will learn how to become an effective advocate for climate solutions. You will learn about our methodology for developing relationships with members of Congress and the local media.

The purpose of Citizens’ Climate Lobby (CCL)
1. To create the political will for a livable world.
2. To empower individuals to have breakthroughs in exercising their personal and political power.

How does CCL Work?
CCL uses a mix of group empowerment and support which includes monthly national conference calls with a guest speaker. CCL trains volunteers to speak powerfully to their elected officials, the media, and their local communities in order to inspire members of Congress to be leaders and spokespersons for a sustainable climate. CCL volunteers meet with their members of Congress, launch letter-writing campaigns, write letters to the editor and Op/Ed pieces, and generate editorials to promote a sustainable climate.

Event Leader: Susan Secord is a Colorado coordinator for Citizens’ Climate Lobby. In 2013 she was a founding member of the Boulder CCL chapter of which she has been the co-leader ever since. With a background in business and industry training and a public school educator, she is an experienced CCL workshop leader. She is very excited to come to Colorado Springs to support the establishment of a CCL chapter in Colorado District 5. The Colorado Springs CCL chapter will be the tenth chapter in Colorado, and there will now be CCL chapters in every Colorado congressional district.
