Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers will serve as the honorary chair of a new panel called the No Excuse for Abuse Task Force, which will work to reduce the rates of domestic violence in the region. The mission, according to a release by TESSA, which serves victims of domestic and sexual violence, is to create awareness of the problem and stir change.

The panel comprises 20 people from business, government, the faith community and health care. Among the organizations represented are: Pikes Peak United Way, the 4th Judicial District Attorney's Office, the city, El Paso County and local schools. TESSA said in a release that police respond to an average of 35 to 40 domestic violence calls per day.
