Flint, Michigan, has been one of those cities for a long time — you know, the kind of city whose tribulations get milked by cable news to draw pity from audiences who have never known what it means to want. But Flint has produced some truly remarkable people, too, like Claressa Shields, better known as T-Rex. She took home a gold medal for women's boxing in the 2012 London Olympics — the first year the medal was offered — at only 17 years old. Today, as part of the Indie Lens Pop-up film series, the Tim Gill Center and the Independent Film Society of Colorado will be screening T-Rex, the 2015 documentary about Shields' rise and the struggles she faced along the way. Consider it also a preview — Shields will be competing in the Rio Olympics this August, defending her 68-1 career record. 7 p.m., 315 E. Costilla St., free, — Griffin Swartzell
