How does the mayor expect Utilities to pay for storm water and on the hand and then want to sell Utilities at the same time! Seems like they can't make up their mind about what they want to do with our publicly owned utilities. Storm water has always been a municipal responsibility. It would be fiscally irresponsible for The Board of Directors of utilities (AKA City Council) to expect the utilities rate payers to have to cover this expense - much less illegal. The money would have to come from somewhere and if Utilities took over storm water it would come in the form of higher rates. Colorado Springs Utilities rate payers currently enjoy some of the lowest rates in the area in addition to having one of the most reliable and safe gas, water and electric systems in the country. This is because we are publicly owned!
